Would this be the first or second D-check for this 12-year old bird, you think? 12 years would seem a long time before a first D-check unless the aircraft were low on cycles – which perhaps this long

They simply didn’t have the money. They could barely keep a cashflow up that would allow them to pay their bills. They couldn’t even afford painting the fleet into the new corporate design. But besid

You need to understand how the economy works. If you own a ‘widget’ and it’s not in great demand and it will cost you a lot of money to fix it up to try and sell it, but if you part it out you can mak

RE: Scrapping A A321 SPANAIR
The cabin was certainly run down on EC-HQZ. Also it seemed it had not been properly cleaned for a long long time. Panels were dirty. You could easily see that the company had run out of money… But

Wow, if that’s the case then JK haven’t looked after this aircraft very well. It’s a sad sight to see.[Edited 2012-06-03 07:22:21]

Imagine: – aircraft short before D-Check – cabin run down – engines due for heavy maintenance – some «issues» (especially corrosion) that might require more intense repairs … and a seemingly «young»

RE: Scrapping A A321 SPANAIR
I went on this particular A321 on the 8th of july 2011 and it was in a pretty sad condition from what I saw. I agree that you can change the interior but the whole airframe looked like it had not bee

RE: Scrapping A A321 SPANAIR
Back when SPANAIR folded, it was reported that their aircraft were mostly in a condition which would have required intense refurbishment.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe this is the reason, it may of not preformed as well as it is spouse to. Other than that I don’t see why it would of been scrapped.

RE: Scrapping A A321 SPANAIR
Really surprised with this, IIRC SPANAIR got the first HGW A321’s, to enable them to use them on Canaries to Finland routes with a full payload. Maybe there is an issue with this particular airframe?

RE: Scrapping A A321 SPANAIR
SPANAIR ceased all operations on January 27, 2012. All their aircraft had to be returned to the lease holders or other owners. Therefore the owners make a business decision as to what to do with the a

Scrapping A A321 SPANAIR
Wonder why this is being scrapped. It appears to be only 12 years old. Was it in an accident?
